Replacing Key Tags

Replacing Key Tags

A badge with Master Access is required to edit keytags
There are two methods to change the key tag number assigned to a unit. The method you choose will depend on the information you currently know.
If you know the unit name, select Change Tags by Unit. (Recommended)
If you only know the old keytag number, select Change Tags by Tag Number.

Change Tags by Unit

Log in to the HandyTrac keypad.
Select "Administration" in the top right corner.
    Select "Edit Key Tags."
    Select "Change Tags by Unit."

The system will prompt to verify the selected unit. Tap "OK."
Scan your new keytag. The system will confirm the old keytag has been replaced.
Match up your key with your new keytag and place it on the hook indicated.

Notes

  • If you manually type in an old keytag number and the system advises it is not recognized as a valid tag, it means the old tag is not currently assigned. You should use the Search Keytag Report on the website to look up the history of the keytag to see if was every assigned in your system.
  • A keytag can only be replaced with a tag that is not currently assigned to any location in the system. This means that keytags assigned to extra locations, such as ADMIN### or EXTRA### cannot be used for other units. It is recommended that a new pack of spare keytags are purchased to replace lost or damaged keytags.
