Adding a new unit to a HandyTrac system is done by replacing an existing extra location in your system. This is a two step process: 1) Rename the extra location and 2) Replace the placeholder keytag number.
Log in to the HandyTrac keypad using Master Access.
Select “Administration” in the top right corner.
Select “Change Apt/Unit#”.
Select the unit you wish to rename.
You can search for the unit by using the “Find Apt/Unit#” field to the upper left. Generally, extra unit locations have names including: XTRA, EXTRA, or ADMIN.
Type in the new unit name using the on-screen keyboard.
Unit names can include Letters, Numbers, Spaces, Periods, and Dashes.
The system will confirm the unit location has been renamed.
On firmware 4.11 and below, unit names are limited to 10 characters.
On firmware 4.12 and above, unit names are limited to 20 characters.
Tap the "Back" button to go back to the Administration Menu.
Select "Edit Key Tags."
Select "Change Tags by Unit." (This is the recommended method)
From the list of units, select the new unit.
The system will prompt to verify the selected unit. Tap "OK."
Scan your new keytag. The system will confirm the old placeholder keytag has been replaced.
Match up your key with your new keytag and place it on the hook indicated.
You must have existing extra locations in your system. All extra hook locations can be found on your Key Map. If more total keys are required, you may need to expand your system database. Please contact HandyTrac support to see if a system expansion is required. service@handytrac.com
