The Search Key Tag Report will show you all transactions associated with a specific keytag number.
This is primarily used to help identify a found key tag that is no longer recognized by the system. A common scenario is that a key was assumed lost, replaced, then the old key tag is found again.
This does not mean the key tag belongs in the system.
Valid Transactions are Found
If you search a key tag number on this report and you find historical transaction data, but the key no longer is recognized in the system, look for the most recent transaction.
That transaction will most likely be a key tag edit where the tag was removed from the system.
In short, if you already have a different key in the system for the unit displayed on this report, there is nothing you need to do as you already have a key for the unit in the system. The key tag you searched for is an extra key tag that can be used for something in the future.
No Valid Transactions are Found
If you search a key tag number on this report and you do not find historical transaction data, then the key tag is an extra.
A transaction with "Tag Not in System" is only an indicator the tag was scanned, not that it was assigned to a unit. This is not a valid transaction.
If there is a physical key attached to the key tag, it is possible somebody meant to replace a missing key in the system and did not know how, so they simply placed the key back in the system.
Another scenario is that a vendor brought a key from a different site that also has a HandyTrac system.
